  • 17.

How would you explain Embedded Systems to a software engineer?

An embedded system consists of both - Hardware and Software and it drives a specific functionality. For example, the small robotic vehicle which NASA has sent to MARS (Perseverance Rover) is driven by an embedded system which has hardware as well as software. Definitely, the software written for embedded systems is a bit different in terms of development tools used, languages, methodology etc. In M.Tech. Embedded Systems program, we cover complete end-to-end development of embedded systems – both hardware as well as software with theoretical base as well as practical hands-on experiments.

  • 18.

Am I already using Embedded Systems?

Yes, Of course! Embedded System touches your life 24X7. Embedded system is there in your mobile phone, digital camera, set top box, DVD player, refrigerator, microwave oven, washing machine, car, TV, gaming console to name a few devices you personally use. Apart from this, you are using Embedded System when you use elevator, when you use ATM, when you are in the traffic following the traffic controller, when you take an X-Ray or ECG when you use weighing machine etc. Literally, the list is unlimited. In fact, it is unthinkable of today’s life without Embedded Systems.
